I love the idea, I blogged about your city Notebook:

“I’ve bought the London one this weekend! They are just brilliant, it enables you to create your own city guide; to create your personal map, to collect and keep the places you like… You can also share your stories, best places… on Moleskine City.

When you see lots of traditional brands struggling to mix their core activity and digital, Moleskine should be an example on how to develop your brand through digital without loosing you soul.”

i bought the london book last week and am going to the city tomorow for the day. i too really like the idea - a concise place for all memories of all trips. however, i was a little disapoited at the books’ quality as the tracing paper page is wonky and i’ll have to take scissors to the food tab to cut off excess plastic that is standing proud of the cover. shame i didnt undo the wrapper in the shop and irritatingly too late to do anything about it before my trip.

Just found the link inside my Paris and Barcelona citynotebooks. Both will be used in an upcoming world tour, which includes: Barcelona, Paris, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Bangkok, Tokyo

I really wished there was a city book available for Tokyo right now, and I’m impatiently waiting for the Barcelona portion of the site to be online… :em18:

    Dear Kate,
we asked Modo&Modo’s customer care and this is their reply: “We are really sorry for the customer disappointment, but we hope that in any case she will appreciate the utility of the City Notebook for her tour of London.

The tracing paper is made with a particular and expressly manufacted material that will allow to stick and to remove it from the pages of the maps. They have to be very thin to allow to see through.

I’m sorry because the customer had to cut off the excess plastic of the tabs, but we are proud to say that all our products are quite entirely hand made and so we have to consider the possibility there are small defects (the products made by machine are quite perfect but, sincerely, we think that hand made ones are better).

Besides, we have a strict quality control on the notebooks but sometimes the defects are so small that it’s very hard to find them.”

I loved the idea when I first heard about it and went out of my way to buy the Praha book today. A couple of suggestions … the light gray print is too hard to read (same with your calandars) in dim light like airplanes, trains, hotel rooms, etc. Please, strongly consider printing future editions in black ink. Not sure how I’m supposed to use the tracing sheets — instructions would be helpful.

When in London, just walk ! You don’t need a plan - wnadeer at random. You may not know where you are but you can’t get lost because sooner or later you will come across an Underground station or a bus route. And round every corner there is some fascinating discovery - a hidden square, a specialist shop, an elegant church, the world’s best pie shop!

    I vote for Lisbon, too.
Since 3 years ago I moved to New York, but I still miss “my city”.
Lisbon is one of the most beautiful cities I know.
There’s a charming decay that contrasts with the new developed areas.

It’s still one affordable place to go if you’re short on budget and full of History - there’s Roman, Greek, Arab, Renaissance, Manuelino, Baroque… it’s like an open book.

I’ve enjoyed moleskine notebooks for many years and I look forward to the new city notebooks! :em07:

However, I must point out 2 major errors in the article “Walking with Pessoa in the discovery of Lisbon” in the Words&Writers section. :em08:

Firstly, the name of the Portuguese author mentioned in the article is incorrect. The author’s name is “Fernando Pessoa”,… not “Ferdinado Pessoa”.

Secondly, “Bernardo Soares” was a semi-heteronym of Pessoa, a concept much richer in nature than the simplistic description of “fictional author”. To describe it as such neglects the depth, complexity, creativity and originality of Pessoa himself.

I love, Love, LOVE this concept! Since at some point, you will cover the world, how about giving us some blank ones in the meantime? I love the ‘city file’ and personalizable tabs, some ruled/some blank pages, big pocket, measurements and conversion charts, ‘travel planning/memo’ pages, ‘before going’ page — maybe a ‘Remember to pack’ page? Basically, give us everything without the maps. :em07:

I love the city guides and I love the idea of it. But when it comes to cities you really want to describe yourself it is Istanbul - one giant, chaotic, functioning city right at the edge of Europe. :em18: So, why isn’t there a guidebook for Istanbul yet?

    Hope to see one soon.

I don’t live in Denver, but I’m an one and a half from there. And, each time I go, I do something new.

    Hello all,
maybe you should also add two other major areas: (1) the Ruhr area in germany, competing Berlin in size, *afaik* having more gross income than Scandinavia as a whole, and (2) Tokyo.
And, why not cooperate with www.japanesepod101.com regarding Tokyo ;)
    Best regards.

Well, this is just a suggestion to “Moleskine City Notebooks”. If they show the Metro System ON/OVER the map of every Key Maps it would be the most clear, practical and usefull experience. Moleskine: Can you put it on it, please? Thank you Moleskine…

So far I really like your new LA blog. I love the concert suggestions and some of the food hints. I can’t seem to comment on it and it would be nice to be able to write back to the people who are posting- I went to the Santa Monica music thing because of the posting and LOVED it and wanted to share that. THANKS!
